Ajmer (Rajasthan): Rajasthan special POCSO Court No. 2 sentenced remaining 6 accused life imprisonment. special court grant life imprisonment to Nafees Chishti, Naseem alias Tarzan, Salim Chishti, Iqbal Bhati, Sohil Ghani and Syed Zameer Hussain in popular 32 years old 1992 blackmail case in Ajmer.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh each on the accused. The court convicted these accused on Tuesday itself and the sentence was pronounced in the afternoon.
Earlier this decision was to come on August 8 in the case, but due to the ill health of accused Iqbal Bhati, the date of August 20 was fixed in this case and on Tuesday Iqbal Bhati was brought to Ajmer from Delhi via ambulance and produced in the court.
POCSO court’s public prosecutor Virendra Singh Rathore said that the charge sheet in the case was presented in 2001. He said that there were 18 accused in the case. Nine of them have already been sentenced and some accused have been acquitted and one accused has committed suicide while one accused Almaz Maharaj is absconding and the court has declared him fugitive and issued a red corner notice against him. In view of the verdict in this case, a heavy police force was deployed in the court premises.
