Liquor shops on Kanwar Yatra route in haridwar to be covered with curtains

Haridwar, July 8: All the liquor shops on the Kanwar route in Haridwar will be covered with curtains. Before the start of the Kanwar Mela, the DM has issued instructions to the Excise Department for this.

After this, the Excise Department has started preparing to cover the liquor shops and the sign boards around them. The Excise Department has also surveyed all the shops for this.

Haridwar District Excise Officer Kailash Chandra Binjola said that during the holy Kavad Yatra in the month of Shravan, crores of devotees come to Haridwar. Keeping in mind the faith of the devotees, curtains were constructed to cover the liquor shops and their signboards. There is no plan to close the shops during the Yatra.

There are approximately 28 such shops on the Yatra route in Haridwar district, which have been decided to be covered with curtains. All these shops will be covered with curtains before the Kavad Yatra begins. Strict action will be taken by issuing a notice against the shopkeepers who do not follow the instructions.

This decision has been taken so that the sentiments of the devotees are not hurt during the Kanwar Yatra. Also, to avoid any kind of conflict, as a precaution, the Excise Department will hide the liquor shops with curtains during the Kanwar Yatra period.
