Kedarnath and Badrinath highways closed repeatedly due to landslides, pilgrims stranded

Abohar, July 7: Due to continuous heavy rains in Uttarakhand, landslides have occurred at many places on the Kedarnath and Badrinath highways, due to which hundreds of pilgrims on the Chardham Yatra are stranded.

Road closed due to debris and stone falling near Munkatiya on the Kedarnath highway

Traffic has been closed due to debris and large stones falling from the mountain near Munkatiya on the Kedarnath route.

♦Passengers have been stopped at Sonprayag and Gaurikund.

♦The administration has opened the route for walking.

♦Passengers are being evacuated by shuttle service and on foot.

However, the situation remains extremely dangerous due to continuous stone falling.

SDRF and police helping passengers

SDRF and police teams are present on the spot and are working to evacuate the passengers through a safe route.

A large number of passengers are stranded in Sonprayag as moving ahead is not free from danger.

Badrinath Highway closed in Sirobagadh, hundreds of passengers stranded

Heavy debris has accumulated on the road due to landslide near Sirobagadh on Badrinath Highway.

♦NH and Public Works Department (PWD) machines are engaged in opening the road.

♦Continuous rain is hampering relief operations.

♦Local people and passengers of Rudraprayag and Chamoli are stranded on both sides.

Sirobagadh area causes trouble during travel every year in monsoon.
