Kerala: Engineering student from Mizoram stabbed to death

Thiruvananthapuram: A 22-year-old B.Tech student from Rajadhani Institute of Engineering & Technology, Nagaroor, was fatally stabbed near his college, according to Kerala police. The victim, named Valentine and originally from Mizoram, was attacked late at night, approximately 200 meters from the campus, at around 10:30 p.m. The local police have detained a batchmate, also from Mizoram, in connection with the incident.

Initial investigations indicate that a confrontation between the two students may have triggered the stabbing. Valentine was a final-year engineering student, while the accused, T. Lamsang Swal, 23, is a third-year B.Tech Civil Engineering student at the same institution. The two had been living together in a rented house outside the college hostel. On the night of the incident, they, along with friends, were drinking alcohol at their residence when a heated argument escalated into violence. The accused allegedly lured Valentine to Nedumparambu Junction, where he stabbed him in the chest with a knife.

Police have collected CCTV footage of the event, which shows other students present at the scene. The FIR indicates that ongoing personal conflicts motivated Lamsang to commit the act. An investigation is currently ongoing.
