Kolkata gang rape: Bar Council cancels Manojit Mishra’s lawyer license

The West Bengal Bar Council on Wednesday cancelled the membership of Manoj Mishra, the prime accused in the Kolkata gangrape case, and removed his name from the list of lawyers.

Bar Council Chairman Ashok Deb said that in a special general meeting, it was decided that Manoj Mishra’s name should be removed from the list of the Bar Council due to allegations of such a serious and inhuman crime.

At the same time, the police said that the three accused are giving different statements so that the investigation can be misdirected. An officer said that all three are law students, they know some legal tricks.

At the same time, the police is also trying to find out who Manoj, Zaib Ahmed, and Prameet Mukherjee met or were in contact with a few hours before their arrest.

The police questioned the Vice Principal of the Law College twice

The police have also questioned the college’s Vice-Principal Dr. Nayana Chatterjee twice. Manoj Mishra had spoken to her on the phone on the morning of June 26. On Wednesday, the police also questioned 16 people who were present in the college campus at the time of the incident.

The police have found a stain on a bedsheet seized from the security guard’s room, and are investigating whether it has any connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, the Detective Department (DD) of Kolkata Police on Wednesday took over the investigation of the case. Till now, the SIT was investigating.
