In the Kolkata alleged gang rape case, Kolkata Police has said that Law College guard Pinaki Banerjee (55) has also been arrested in the case. Earlier, a sensational case of gang rape of a student in Kolkata Law College came to light. Police have arrested the main accused and Trinamool Congress student leader Monojit Mishra (31), Zaib Ahmed (19) and Promit Mukhopadhyay (20).
Monojit is a former student of this college, while Zaib and Promit are current students. The court has sent all three accused to four-day police custody. The victim’s statement has been recorded before the judicial magistrate. Gang rape has been confirmed in the medical. Monojit’s social media handle revealed that he is the former president of the Trinamool Congress Student Council unit of the college and the organization secretary of the South Kolkata branch of the TMC student organization.
The student told in the complaint that when she rejected Monojit’s marriage proposal, he along with his friends beat her up. Dragged her to the guard room. Monojit raped her. Both the accused were guarding outside. The victim alleged that the accused closed the main gate of the college and made the security guard sit outside her room. The victim also said in the complaint that Monojit had threatened to beat up her boyfriend and implicate her parents in a false case.
Made a video of the rape, threatened to make it viral
According to the complaint, the culprits also made a video of the rape on mobile phone. They threatened to make the video viral if she complained. The police have seized the mobile phones of the accused and sent them for forensic investigation.
