Mahakumbh: More than 397.4 million devotees take holy dip till Feb 6

New Delhi: Over 397.4 million devotees have participated in the holy dip at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mystical Saraswati during the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, according to data from the Uttar Pradesh Government Information Department as of February 6, 2025.

Recent serene visuals from the Triveni Sangam ghats show devotees immersing themselves in the holy waters. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is scheduled to take a holy dip at the Sangam today. This annual event has attracted millions of pilgrims and has gained global attention this year, with numerous prominent figures joining the crowds.

On Thursday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and his family also took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. He commended the organization of the Mahakumbh, acknowledging the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi performed a holy dip at the Sangam and later enjoyed a boat ride on the Yamuna River with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Other notable attendees include Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several state leaders and ministers.

Celebrities from various fields have also participated, including Bollywood actors Hema Malini, Anupam Kher, and Bhagyashree, as well as sports figures like cricketer Suresh Raina and wrestler Khali. The event has garnered praise from devotees for its efficient management, including security and sanitation.

As the Mahakumbh progresses, the immense faith and devotion of millions continue to highlight the enduring spiritual significance of this grand event. The Maha Kumbh 2025, which began on January 13, will run until February 26 and is expected to set new records for attendance and participation.
