Prayagraj: The sacred Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj is experiencing a continuous surge of devotion as the Mahakumbh unfolds, drawing a massive number of pilgrims, saints, and Kalpvasis. By 8 a.m. on Wednesday, over 3.748 million devotees had taken a holy dip in the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the revered Saraswati, enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of this grand religious event.

This figure includes more than 1 million Kalpvasis and 2.748 million pilgrims who arrived early to seek divine blessings. According to data from the Uttar Pradesh government, the total number of bathers since the Mahakumbh began has surpassed 382 million as of February 4, highlighting the event’s immense spiritual and cultural importance. With several weeks still remaining, the numbers are anticipated to rise even further.

In related news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj today. He plans to take a holy dip at the Sangam and offer prayers to Maa Ganga around 11 AM. Many prominent figures have also participated in the holy dip, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with his Cabinet. Notable personalities like producer Vinod Bhanushali and Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin, accompanied by actress Dakota Johnson, also took part in the ritual on Saturday. On Tuesday, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck also visited for a holy dip alongside UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

The Mahakumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is recognized as the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, attracting devotees from around the globe. The event will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26, and it is expected to set new records for attendance and participation.
