Mahalakshmi Fridge Horror: Murder suspect dies by suicide, found hanging

Bengaluru: In a shocking development, the main accused in the Mahalakshmi murder case of Bengaluru committed suicide by hanging himself. The body was dound in a village in Bhadrak district of Odisha on Wednesday afternoon. His body was found hanging from a tree. His bike was also found parked there.

According to the police, the name of the deceased is Muktiranjan Pratap Ray. A diary has been recovered from him, in which he has confessed to the murder of Mahalakshmi. Mahalakshmi and Ranjan knew each other and were in a relationship. Both worked in the same mall.

On September 20, the body of 29-year-old Mahalakshmi was found in a three-storey house near Basappa Garden in Vyalikaval area of ​​​​Bengaluru. Her body was cut into 59 pieces and kept in the fridge. Mahalakshmi was a team leader at a costume outlet in Malleswaram.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara had also said that information has been received about the suspect being in Odisha. Teams have been formed to catch the accused. They have been sent to Odisha. Bengaluru police were also looking for the accused.

Mahalakshmi’s brother Ukkam Singh had told that his family hailed from Tikapur village in Nepal’s Kanth province. Mahalakshmi was married to Hemant Das, who lives in Nelamangala. Hemant worked in a mobile accessories shop whereas Mahalakshmi used to work in a mall. They also have a 4-year-old daughter. Mahalakshmi and Hemant were living separately for about 4 years.

However, both were not divorced yet. The daughter lived with Hemant. Mahalakshmi has been living in a rented house in Vyalikaval on 5th Cross Pipeline Road near Basappa Garden since October 2023.
