Maharashtra CM Fadnavis to chair high-level security review meeting in Mumbai

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is scheduled to lead a high-level security review meeting today at his official residence, Varsha Bungalow. Senior police officials and administrative leaders will participate in the discussions.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also convened a top-level meeting on Friday to assess and strengthen security across the state, paying particular attention to border districts. He instructed officials to remain on high alert and directed measures to enhance security infrastructure throughout Rajasthan.

The meetings come in the wake of recent incidents where Pakistani drones were intercepted by Indian air defense systems in Jaisalmer. Explosions and flashes were observed in the sky, and blackouts were enforced in Bikaner, parts of Punjab, Kishtwar, Akhnoor, Samba, Jammu, Amritsar, and Jalandhar.

In his statement, the Rajasthan Chief Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining security, especially in border areas, and ordered the cancellation of leave for all government employees to ensure their presence at work.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot issued a strong message, supporting the armed forces and urging the public to remain calm. He called for unity and patience, asserting that India’s military response would be strong, and expressed confidence in victory, citing India’s previous successes such as the division of Pakistan.

India earlier responded to the Pahalgam terror attack with Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure across Pakistan through precise strikes. The government reaffirmed that any attack on Indian military installations would be met with an appropriate and firm response.
