Man kills three children, dies by suicide in Jharkhand's Giridih

Giridih: A devastating incident occurred in Maheshliti village within Jharkhand’s Giridih district, where a man reportedly killed his three children before dying by suicide. The deceased individuals have been identified as 36-year-old Sanaul Ansari, along with his daughters Afreen Parveen (12) and Zaiba Naz (8), and his son Safaul Ansari (6). Authorities believe the tragedy unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, around 2 or 3 a.m.

Concerned neighbors, noticing an unusual silence from Sanaul’s home during Sehri, the pre-dawn meal of Ramadan, knocked on his door. When they received no response, they entered the house to discover Sanaul hanging and the bodies of his children nearby.

Local police from the Khokhara police station were alerted and quickly arrived at the scene, with Dumri Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sumit Prasad in attendance. The bodies were subsequently sent to Giridih Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

Initial investigations indicate that Sanaul may have strangled his children before committing suicide. He was known to work as a mason and ran a small ration and clothing shop from his home.

At the time of the incident, Sanaul’s wife was away at her maternal home in Jamdha village and returned to Maheshliti upon learning of the tragedy. The motive for this shocking act remains unclear. “We are exploring all angles and will be interviewing Sanaul’s wife and other family members to determine the reasons behind this incident,” stated SDPO Sumit Prasad.

The community is in shock, grappling with the profound loss of four lives as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
