New Delhi: Monsoon rains have brought relief from the scorching heat across the country, but the rising humidity can increase the risk of foodborne illness and digestive troubles. 

Here is what health expert suggest to avoid eat during Monsoon:

Firstly, raw vegetables and leafy greens like salad, chutneys, or uncooked herbs pose significant risk, as they often carry contaminants from moist farm environments. These can trigger stomach upset and infections unless washed and cooked thoroughly.

Similarly, meat, fish, eggs, and unpasteurized dairy are considered hazardous during monsoons. High humidity encourages pathogen growth in animal products, leading to bacterial infections. Experts strongly recommend avoiding raw milk products, which can spoil quickly and cause gastrointestinal problems.

Additionally, street food pakoras, samosas, raw fruit juices, and cart-side paneer presents a high-risk category. Exposure to unhygienic preparation and contaminated water makes these foods frequent triggers of diarrhea and food poisoning.

Experts stress that during monsoons, heavy, oily, and raw foods overwhelm weakened digestion. Traditional dietary wisdom and naturopathy guidelines suggest avoiding these, favoring light, cooked meals such as soups, steamed seasonal vegetables, whole grains, and herbal teas enriched with turmeric, ginger, and tulsi.

As infections proliferate with waterborne pathogens in monsoon, it is crucial to steer clear of risky foods—raw produce, street fare, undercooked and unpasteurized items—to maintain gut health and prevent illness.
