MP govt plans to ban liquor in religious cities, says CM Mohan Yadav

Bhopal: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh announced that his government is considering revising policies in religious cities, including a potential ban on liquor sales. He noted that numerous seers have suggested this change, and the government is seriously contemplating shutting down liquor shops within these religious areas to address public complaints about maintaining a spiritual environment. “As the current budget year concludes, we are looking to amend our policies in these cities and will make a decision soon,” CM Yadav stated.

Additionally, CM Yadav is set to perform the Bhoomi Pujan for the Sevarkhedi-Silarkhedi project, valued at Rs 614 crore, in Ujjain district on Monday, with Union Minister CR Patil in attendance. This project aims to ensure adequate water levels in the Kshipra River and provide sufficient drinking water for Ujjain residents.

“The project will allow our saints to bathe in the sacred waters of the Kshipra River during Simhastha 2028,” the Chief Minister added. He expressed satisfaction with these developments, noting that in previous years, saints had to bathe in the Gambhir River in 2004 and the Narmada River in 2016 due to low water levels in the Kshipra. He assured that the Madhya Pradesh government will continue to undertake public welfare initiatives and extended his greetings to the state’s residents.
