Chandigarh: In a significant action today, the Nagar Nigam has demolished an illegal commercial complex located in Tilak Nagar, specifically in the Nakhan Wala Bagh area. Sukhdev Vishisht, an Assistant Town Planner (ATP) of Nagar Nigam, reported that the owners of the building had been issued multiple notices regarding its unauthorized construction. However, despite receiving these notices, the owners did not cease the ongoing work nor did they apply for the necessary approvals from the Nagar Nigam.

As a result of this non-compliance, the demolition was carried out today under the orders of the Nagar Nigam Commissioner. This decision highlights the local authorities’ commitment to enforcing building regulations and ensuring public safety by removing illegal structures. The demolition aims to reinforce the importance of adhering to legal guidelines and obtaining the necessary permissions for all construction activities. Additional actions may be considered against property owners who continue to violate building codes in the future.
