BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan has been arrested in the case of the beating of the Additional Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Odisha. He surrendered before the police on Thursday evening. So far, 6 people have been arrested in the case.
Pradhan said, ‘I have come to cooperate in the investigation. If the matter is solved by my arrest, then I am ready to cooperate.’ He also alleged that efforts are being made to defame him and his party.
Let us tell you that the BJP leader is accused of having his supporters beat up (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahu during a public hearing. The video of the assault went viral on social media. In the video, 6-8 people were seen abusing Sahu and continuously punching him. Accused were arrested after video went viral on social media.
In a conversation with the media after the incident, Sahu had said- I do not know the attackers. They scuffled with me and tried to take me in the car. I will inform the higher authorities about this, and an FIR will be registered soon.
At the same time, BMC officials staged a sit-in protest in the office premises. Work was not done for the whole day. Employees demand that the culprits be arrested as soon as possible.
Six youths entered the chamber and attacked
According to initial reports, 6 people entered Sahu’s chamber and started beating him. Clear information has not yet come out about why people attacked the officer. Some of the attackers have not been identified.

Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had shared the video of the assault on the officer on social media. He had written, “I am shocked to see this video. The senior officer was dragged from his office and brutally beaten with kicks and punches. This attack took place in the presence of a BJP councilor.”
