Odisha Tourism dept holds roadshow in Hyderabad; highlights cultural heritage, wildlife

Bhubaneswar: On Tuesday, the Odisha Tourism department conducted a roadshow in Hyderabad aimed at enhancing both inbound and domestic tourism by showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and various tourist attractions.

The event, organized in collaboration with FICCI, saw participation from over 40 travel operators and more than 20 tourism investors from Hyderabad, engaging in a series of Business-to-Government (B2G) interactions.

According to a statement from the tourism department, Odisha is actively marketing its tourism sector domestically by highlighting its wide range of attractions, which include cultural monuments, waterfalls, wildlife, local cuisine, hills, and Buddhist circuits.

A key feature of this initiative is the popular Eco Retreat Odisha, a three-month glamping festival that has gained significant attention. The roadshow, held at Taj Krishna in Hyderabad, included informative sessions and interactive engagements with travel operators and tourism stakeholders.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who participated in the event, emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a pro-investment environment that supports businesses. She noted that Odisha offers unparalleled destinations and serene landscapes, presenting a golden opportunity for investors to flourish in one of India’s most promising tourism markets.

Parida stated, “Odisha is leading the way in India’s tourism growth with investor-friendly policies, excellent infrastructure, and a strong commitment to investors. Now is the time to partner with Odisha—‘Think India Think Odisha.’”

Balwant Singh, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Tourism department, highlighted the state’s vast tourism potential and initiatives aimed at positioning Odisha as a prime destination for domestic travelers. He also discussed the comprehensive road network connecting Odisha with neighboring states.

The event featured interactive Q&A sessions, allowing travel operators, tour agencies, and other tourism-related businesses from Hyderabad to engage in meaningful discussions with the Odisha Tourism delegation led by Deputy CM Parida. These interactions are expected to strengthen connections between Odisha and Hyderabad’s travel industry.

A significant highlight was the proposal to include Odisha in major Tourism Plazas, which would boost the visibility and accessibility of the state’s rich tourism offerings. Additionally, discussions focused on promoting wellness tourism, leveraging Odisha’s natural beauty and traditional wellness practices to establish the state as a leading wellness destination.

Later, the Odisha Tourism delegation met with over 12 potential investors from the travel and tourism sector to discuss investment opportunities in the state’s growing tourism infrastructure, including the development of hotels, resorts, and concert venues in collaboration with the Department of Tourism.
