One Nation, One Election a transformative initiative of PM Modi: Bihar BJP chief

Patna: Dilip Jaiswal, the President of the Bihar BJP and Minister of Revenue and Land Reforms, has described the ‘One Nation, One Election’ concept as a transformative initiative that offers significant advantages for the country.

He characterized the proposal as a visionary move that aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goals of enhancing democracy and fostering national development. Jaiswal emphasized that this initiative is not only historic but also essential for stabilizing governance and streamlining the nation’s development efforts.

“Frequent elections impede development due to the recurring implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), disrupting administrative functions and delaying government schemes. The financial burden and time spent on regular elections are substantial. Conducting simultaneous elections nationwide would conserve resources that could be redirected towards nation-building initiatives,” he stated.

The BJP leader noted that a unified election schedule would alleviate pressure on government employees and security forces, ensuring continuity in administrative tasks. This approach would allow political parties and leaders to concentrate on developmental efforts rather than being constantly engaged in election campaigns.

Jaiswal added that the ‘One Nation, One Election’ strategy could enhance public enthusiasm and maintain citizen confidence by simplifying the voting process and reducing electoral fatigue.

He called on all political parties to set aside their differences and support this initiative, stressing that it serves the national interest rather than a partisan agenda.

“I urge social organizations, citizens, and other stakeholders to unite behind this historic reform, recognizing its potential to strengthen and improve India’s democracy,” he said.

According to Jaiswal, this initiative goes beyond mere political reform. By synchronizing elections across the country, it aims to minimize governance inefficiencies and establish a more stable democratic framework. He praised PM Modi for leading the charge to achieve this goal, viewing it as a crucial part of a larger vision to build a strong and resilient democratic nation.
