Panic grips Noida schools after receiving bomb threats

New Delhi: Panic gripped parents, teachers, and students in Noida after four private schools received bomb threats via email on Wednesday. The schools affected are Step by Step School, The Heritage School, Gyanshree School, and Mayur School. Upon notification, school authorities quickly informed district administration and law enforcement.

In response, a team from UP Police, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), fire brigade, and a dog squad, conducted thorough investigations at the schools. Authorities later confirmed that all locations were secure, and classes resumed in most schools.

The police urged the public to disregard rumors and remain calm. As a precaution, the bomb squad was dispatched to the sites immediately. Investigations into the emails are currently being handled by the cyber team, which is working to identify those responsible for the threats.

Last year, similar threatening emails were received by numerous schools in Delhi, Noida, and the surrounding NCR region, leading to students being sent home. In a related development, the Delhi High Court ordered the government to create a comprehensive action plan, including a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for managing bomb threats and emergencies. The court acknowledged that while a completely foolproof system is unrealistic, authorities must be prepared to tackle the evolving challenges posed by anonymity in the digital age.
