New Delhi: The second half of the 2025 Parliament Budget Session begins today, with both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha set to witness the presentation of various standing committee reports and bills. Several ministers will lay papers on the table of the House as part of today’s proceedings.
In the Lok Sabha, MPs Biplab Kumar Debshri and Jai Prakash will present the First Report of the Committee on Absence of Members from the sittings of the House. Meanwhile, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and BJP MP Saumitra Khan will present the following reports from the Standing Committee on Home Affairs:
- 251st Report on the Action Taken by the government on recommendations from the 245th Report of the Committee regarding ‘Prison Conditions, Infrastructure, and Reforms’.
- 252nd Report on the Demands for Grants (2025-26) of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
- 253rd Report on the Demands for Grants (2025-26) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
Similar reports will be presented in the Rajya Sabha by Dr. Radha Mohan Agrawal and Ajay Makan.
In addition to the reports, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present a statement on the Supplementary Demands for Grants – Second Batch for 2024-25. She will also present statements on the estimated receipts and expenditures for the State of Manipur for 2025, along with the Supplementary Demands for Grants for the state for 2024-25.
Home Minister Amit Shah will move a bill to establish the Institute of Rural Management Anand as a university, to be named “Tribhuvan” Sahkari University. This university will focus on providing education and training in the cooperative sector, promoting research and development, and meeting global standards in cooperative excellence. The bill will be moved for consideration and passage.
Additionally, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will introduce a bill related to the transfer of rights and liabilities associated with bills of lading. This bill aims to ensure that consignees and endorsee parties gain property rights to goods listed in a bill of lading upon consignment or endorsement.
The session is expected to be crucial in the presentation and consideration of these significant legislative measures.
