"Passing of Ratan Tata has filled me with immense grief": Mukesh Ambani

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Ratan Tata, calling it a “sad day for India” and saying that his death has filled him with “immense grief.” In a post on X, Ambani remembered Tata as a visionary industrialist, philanthropist, and a cherished friend, extending his heartfelt condolences to the Tata family and the entire Tata Group.

Ambani reflected on his personal experiences with Tata, stating, “Each interaction with him deepened my respect for his noble character and the admirable values he upheld. Ratan Tata was a visionary leader and philanthropist who dedicated himself to the greater good of society.” He emphasized Tata’s significant role in advancing India’s growth and global standing.

“With Ratan Tata’s passing, India has lost one of her most illustrious and compassionate sons. He showcased India to the world and introduced the best of the world to India. Under his leadership, the Tata Group expanded over 70 times from when he took over as Chairman in 1991, making it an international enterprise. On behalf of Reliance and my family, I extend my deepest condolences to the Tata family and the entire Tata Group. Ratan, you will always be in my heart. Om Shanti,” the post stated.

Ratan N. Tata was one of India’s most esteemed and beloved industrialists, leading the Tata Group to new heights and making substantial contributions to the nation, especially through philanthropy. Born in Mumbai on December 28, 1937, he chaired the Tata Trusts and served as Chairman of Tata Sons from 1991 until his retirement in 2012, later becoming Chairman Emeritus. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, in 2008.
