'People from Punjab won't choose Kejriwal and Sanjeev Arora': Manjinder Singh Sirsa

New Delhi: Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa commented on the recently tabled CAG report and addressed rumors regarding AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s possible move to the Rajya Sabha. Sirsa stated, “Kejriwal has worked hard to become Chief Minister, but despite his efforts, he remains in the same predicament. He sent Manish Sisodia and Raghav Chadha, but no MLA was willing to step up. Now, they have nominated Sanjeev Arora to contest in the by-election for a Vidhan Sabha seat, while Kejriwal aims for the Rajya Sabha. However, I predict that both Arora and Kejriwal will lose, as the people of Punjab will not support them.”

In an interview, Sirsa discussed the CAG report on the liquor scam, which was a key topic in the Delhi Assembly today. He emphasized the importance of the discussion, noting that it has been repeatedly claimed there was no liquor scam. The CAG report reveals how the scams were carried out, contradicting those assertions. “Today’s discussion is crucial because it’s been claimed that the scam didn’t happen overnight. The CAG report outlines how the liquor system operated and how licenses were issued. Despite attempts to conceal the truth, many individuals were involved, whether in wholesale operations or with minimal presence. Arvind Kejriwal’s struggle to maintain his position and the absence of strong leaders within the party are critical aspects of this issue,” Sirsa added.

On Tuesday, CM Rekha Gupta presented the CAG report on the liquor policy in the Assembly. Prior to the session, a meeting of BJP MLAs was held, chaired by CM Gupta, to discuss the report and ensure the smooth functioning of the House. The ‘Performance Audit on Regulation and Supply of Liquor in Delhi’ spans four years from 2017-18 to 2020-21 and evaluates the regulation and supply of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and Foreign Liquor in Delhi. This report is one of 14 pending CAG reports concerning the performance of the previous Aam Aadmi Party government.
