Bhubaneswar (Odisha): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha on Friday, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for development projects totaling Rs. 18,700 crore, according to the office of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. This visit marks the completion of 11 years of the central government and one year of the Odisha government’s efforts towards good governance and welfare initiatives.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will formally lay the foundation stones and inaugurate multiple infrastructure projects, and also unveil the Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 booklet. His two-day tour will include development project inaugurations in Odisha and Bihar, as well as leading a mass yoga session on the International Day of Yoga.
In Odisha, PM Modi will participate in a state-level event in Bhubaneswar celebrating one year of the Odisha government. As part of his focus on comprehensive development, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth over Rs. 18,600 crore across sectors like drinking water, irrigation, agriculture, health infrastructure, rural roads, bridges, sections of national highways, and a new railway line.
A historic highlight will be the flagging off of new train services connecting Boudh district to the national railway network for the first time. Additionally, he will launch 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport system to promote clean and sustainable urban mobility.
PM Modi will also release the Odisha Vision Document, which outlines a strategic plan for inclusive growth around the landmark years of 2036 (Odisha’s centenary as India’s first linguistic state) and 2047 (India’s 100 years of independence). As part of this visit, he will inaugurate the ‘Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana’ to transform the birthplaces of notable Odias into cultural memorials, promoting tourism and preserving heritage.
Moreover, he will felicitate women achievers and recognize over 16.50 lakh Lakhpati Didis — symbols of prosperity and self-reliance in Odisha — as part of his celebration of the state’s development achievements.
