Pune Police solve mysterious firing case, arrests two including victim's cousin

Pune: In a significant development regarding a shooting incident under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police jurisdiction, authorities have cracked the case and arrested two suspects, including the victim’s cousin, on Wednesday. The primary suspect, 42-year-old Anant Singh, allegedly orchestrated the attack over a contract dispute involving 12 lakh, with the help of his accomplice, Rohit Pandey.

On January 20th, Ajay Vikram Singh was shot in broad daylight within the premises of Kailas Steel Company in the Chakan MIDC area of Pimpri Chinchwad. Initially thought to be an extortion attempt, the investigation revealed it stemmed from a family conflict over the contract.

Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey announced that Anant Singh was apprehended in Madhya Pradesh, while Rohit Pandey was arrested in Uttar Pradesh. The Anti-Gunda Squad, which is leading the investigation, has identified five individuals involved in the crime, and more arrests are anticipated soon.

Investigations indicated that the assailants monitored Ajay Singh’s daily activities before executing the shooting. They acquired two motorbikes to track the victim’s movements. Following the attack, the suspects fled to Visakhapatnam and then to Uttar Pradesh. Notably, Anant Singh visited his cousin in the hospital after the shooting before going into hiding.

This case, registered at the Mahalunge MIDC Police Station, is still under further investigation by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police.
