Rajasthan CM accuses Congress of insulting Ambedkar

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma launched a fierce critique of the Congress party today, accusing it of insulting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. Speaking at a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Sharma condemned the opposition for not fulfilling its duties in both Delhi and Rajasthan.

He argued that the issues currently raised by Congress should have been addressed right after India’s Independence. Emphasizing his party’s commitment to the principles of Antyodaya, as championed by Ambedkar, Sharma highlighted that since 2014, Prime Minister Modi has redefined welfare for the poor in alignment with Ambedkar’s vision.

Sharma accused Congress of hypocrisy, alleging that the party is now pretending to honor Ambedkar despite having previously mocked him. He demanded that Congress leaders provide the resignation letter of Ambedkar, questioning why he was forced to resign from Nehru’s cabinet and noted that Congress actively opposed him during his election campaign.

He mentioned that after Ambedkar resigned, he was denied the opportunity to speak in the Parliament. “I call upon Congress to present the copy of the resignation submitted by Baba Saheb, revealing his grievances. Why was he not given a ticket in 1952 or 1954? The nation seeks answers,” Sharma remarked, adding that Congress had forced Ambedkar’s resignation and restricted his parliamentary voice.

Sharma also criticized the Congress for honoring figures like Nehru and Sanjay Gandhi with memorials while failing to commemorate Ambedkar, the founder of the Constitution. He questioned why Ambedkar had never received the Bharat Ratna from Congress during its long time in power, stating it was the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government that conferred the prestigious award on him, a legacy continued by Modi’s government.

He accused Congress of indulging in caste, religious, and corruption politics, also criticizing Rahul Gandhi for inappropriate behavior in Parliament. Sharma stated that Congress should refrain from exploiting Ambedkar’s name for political purposes.

According to Sharma, Congress is devoid of real issues and has never prioritized national development, only seeking power at any cost. He expressed confidence that the public is increasingly rejecting Congress’s strategies and assured that they would continue to hold the party accountable. He reiterated that his government is committed to the principles of Ambedkar, focusing on progress over the past year.

BJP State President Madan Rathore and Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Prem Bairwa were also in attendance at the conference.
