Rajasthan Police bust gang involved in NEET cheating, arrest five

Jaipur: Jaipur Police have detained five individuals involved in a cheating syndicate during the NEET UG 2025 examination, employing dummy candidates and illegal methods.

The arrests were made after a raid on a flat in ABD Pristine Apartments, Jagdamba Nagar, Karni Vihar, based on a tip-off, according to officials on Monday.

Police recovered fake exam documents, Bluetooth devices, four SIM cards, mobile phones, and Rs 50,000 in cash from the suspects. A Scorpio vehicle was also seized.

Among those detained are Ajit Kumar Barala (26) from Chimanpura, Chomu; Sohan Lal Chaudhary (26) from Kushalpura, Samod; and Jitendra Sharma (24) from Bichpadi, Harmada.

DCP (West) Amit Kumar explained that the NEET UG 2025 exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), took place on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The suspects were accused of planning to help candidates pass the exam through unlawful means.

Preliminary investigations indicated that Sohan and Ajit charged large sums of money to secure exam success for candidates through illegal tactics. Jitendra Sharma was prepared as a dummy candidate, with the gang using artificial intelligence tools on mobile phones to manipulate photographs and generate fake admit cards. Sharma was scheduled to appear for NEET on behalf of Rohit Gora and was also preparing for the Paramedical exam on May 27, replacing another candidate, Sanjay Chaudhary.

Further information from interrogations led police to arrest the original candidates, Rohit Gora (20) from Chomu and Sanjay Chaudhary (19) from Samod.

Investigations revealed that Sohan and Ajit, postgraduate students at the National Institute of Ayurveda near Zorawar Singh Gate, lived together in a flat in Jagdamba Nagar. Driven by the promise of a luxurious lifestyle and quick money, they allegedly engaged in exam fraud.

Jitendra Sharma is a first-year MBBS student at the Copper Institute of Medical Science in Karnataka, having qualified NEET in 2024.

The police continue to investigate the case further.
