SDRF conducts cleanliness drive at Yamunotri Dham, Uttarakhand

Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand): A dedicated cleanliness campaign was conducted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) at Yamunotri Dham in Uttarakhand on Saturday, as part of the “Swachh Yamuna, Nirmal Yamuna, Aviral Yamuna” initiative. Led by Circle Officer Sushil Rawat and Assistant SDRF Commander, the effort focused on preserving the sanctity of the historic site by cleaning the temple complex of Yamuna Ghat, Hanuman Temple, and Kali Kamli area.

The joint operation involved SDRF personnel along with district police, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), Home Guard, and Police Reserve Department (PRD) teams. They worked to clear plastic, trash, and other waste from the Yamuna River vicinity while also raising public awareness about cleanliness.

Rawat emphasized that maintaining cleanliness in religious sites requires collective effort, praising the dedication of all officials, personnel, and workers involved. Meanwhile, the Char Dham Yatra for 2025 officially began on April 30, with Gangotri and Yamunotri opening on Akshaya Tritiya, followed by Kedarnath on May 2 and Badrinath on May 4. Over 22 lakh pilgrims registered at the Rishikesh Transit Camp for the pilgrimage.

The Char Dham circuit includes Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, with Yamuna River originating from the Yamunotri Glacier. The pilgrimage peaks during summer in Uttarakhand. Under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s leadership, the government has made thorough arrangements to ensure a safe, organized, and accessible pilgrimage experience for visitors.
