Lucknow: Security has been heightened outside the Samajwadi Party (SP) office and the residence of party leader Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow due to concerns about potential protests by SP members following the recent “detention” of party leader Manish Jagan Agarwal.
Agarwal, who serves as the president of the SP’s Vyapar Sabha, was reportedly forcibly taken from his home by the Lucknow Police, leading to tensions among party workers. In response, the police have deployed personnel from various stations, and barricades have been set up around the area.
Akhilesh Yadav is expected to hold a press conference this afternoon, where sources suggest that protests by party workers may occur either before or after the event. The SP has issued a statement on X, warning that if any harm comes to Agarwal and his family, the Lucknow Police will be held accountable.
