SIA carries out multiple, simultaneous raids in Kashmir

Srinagar: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) launched several simultaneous raids across various locations in the Kashmir Valley on Saturday as part of its ongoing investigation into terror-related activities.

Sources said that SIA officers, supported by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), conducted raids at 11 sites in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Handwara, Sopore, and Baramulla. These operations are part of the agency’s efforts to target terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers.

No arrests have been made so far, and a detailed statement will be issued once the raids conclude. This follows a similar wave of searches on May 11, when 20 locations in Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, and Shopian were raided.

The raids are part of an extensive investigation into a terror conspiracy involving sleeper cells of terrorist groups in contact with handlers across the border. Officials revealed that those targeted are believed to have shared confidential information about security forces and vital infrastructure through encrypted apps like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Signal.

Raids are being conducted with the presence of executive magistrates, aiming to dismantle terror networks operating in the region. Authorities suspect that the individuals under scrutiny maintain close ties with terrorists based in Pakistan, supporting their activities in Kashmir.

The operation is ongoing, with security personnel thoroughly searching for evidence and suspects. Officials emphasized that such strict measures are necessary to eliminate terrorism and restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

The SIA has previously investigated high-profile terror cases, including the 2020 murder of advocate Babar Qadri. During that investigation, the agency arrested former bar association president Mian Qayoom and filed charges against him and several others, including Shahid Shafi Mir from Kolipora Khanyar, Zahid Farooq Khan from Shampora Nowhatta, Mohammad Asif Bhat from Jogiwan Amdakadal, Lal Bazar, Munir Aziz War (Qari Munir) from Hatmullah Kupwara, and Towseef Ahmad Shah from Parimpora.
