Supreme Court to continue hearing in Kolkata murder case, to take up issue of missing documents

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear the Kolkata RG Kar Medical College rape-murder case today. In the last hearing on September 9, a bench of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Manoj Mishra heard three issues – the CBI investigation report, the doctors’ strike, and facilities for CISF personnel.

Many things came to light in the CBI’s status report. The court said that there was a delay of 14 hours in the FIR. At the same time, some important documents are also missing. In such a situation, the matter seems fishy. The court ordered the state government to present the missing documents in the court.

On the other hand, regarding the strike, the court had asked the doctors to return to work immediately. The CJI said, ‘If the doctors do not return to duty by 5 pm on September 10, then the state government cannot stop taking action against them. The profession of doctors is to serve the patients.’

On the facilities of CISF personnel, the court had ordered the state Home Secretary to provide houses to all the personnel to live. These personnel have come to protect the hospital. They should also be given additional safety equipment.

Despite the court order, junior doctors did not return to work. Doctors continued their protest saying that the Mamata government is not fulfilling their demands. However, just a day ago, the Mamata government has said that it will fulfill three demands of the doctors. Doctors are waiting for the official order.
