Medhchal-Malkajgiri: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana conducted a raid on an unlicensed godown in Uppal Khalsa, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, on February 18, 2025, leading to the seizure of illegally stocked medicines worth Rs. 6.70 lakhs. The raid followed credible information about the illegal storage of medicines at the godown, located at D. No: 24-97-28/A, Ground Floor, Laxmi Narayana Nagar Colony, Uppal Khalsa Village. The owner, Addanki Venkata Suresh Babu, was found to be storing drugs without a valid license.
During the raid, DCA officers discovered a large quantity of unauthorized medicines, including expired drugs such as abortion kits, analgesics, and antihistaminic drugs. The officers seized the medicines and collected samples for analysis.
The investigation will continue, and legal action will be taken against those involved. Wholesalers and dealers who supply medicines to unlicensed entities will also face penalties under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. The DCA emphasized that wholesalers must ensure their recipients hold a valid drug license before supplying medicines. Stocking and selling drugs without a license is a punishable offense under the Act, with penalties including imprisonment for up to five years.
