UP CM Yogi unveils logo of Maha Kumbh-2025 in Prayagraj

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled the logo for Maha Kumbh-2025 in Prayagraj on Sunday. Earlier, he reviewed the preparations for this significant event, meeting with saints and performing puja during his visit.

In a post on X, CM Yogi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to interact with esteemed saints in the holy city of Prayagraj, emphasizing the auspiciousness of the Maha Kumbh as a symbol of Sanatan faith. He also engaged with officials to discuss the progress of the preparations and inspected key locations.

The Maha Kumbh Mela is scheduled from January 14 to February 26, 2025, with significant security measures underway. The main bathing rituals, known as “Shahi Snan” (royal baths), will occur on January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami). The UP government has announced subsidies for upgrading dhabas, restaurants, and hotels along major routes to enhance facilities for tourists and devotees.

Meanwhile, Mahant Hari Giri, the head of Juna Akhara, stated that individuals from non-Sanatan religions would not be permitted at the Kumbh Mela. He emphasized that the event is intended for Sanatan practitioners, and only those committed to the Sanatana dharm and willing to contribute to the festival would be allowed entry, with checks on Aadhar cards for security.

Giri also urged the Uttar Pradesh government to impose a ban on meat and liquor within the vicinity of the Maha Kumbh, asserting that no food should be permitted and that strict security measures should be enforced within a 10-kilometer radius to preserve the event’s sanctity. He indicated that deliberations are underway regarding the name “Mahakumbh,” which he noted has Persian origins derived from Sanskrit, and a government order may be issued to consider a name change.
