"USA's plane should not have been allowed to take off, go back": Sanjay Raut criticises Centre

New Delhi: Sanjay Raut, a leader from Shiv Sena (UBT), criticized the Indian government for allowing the deportation of Indian immigrants from the US, arguing that the “USA’s plane should not have been permitted to depart.” He contended that the Indian authorities should have taken a firmer stance in safeguarding its citizens.

Raut stated, “For us, they are not criminals. The shackles on their feet and hands should have been removed… This was a violation of the law… Once these individuals entered Indian airspace, they should have been treated according to Indian laws, rather than being viewed as criminals.” His comments underscore the intricate issues surrounding international immigration laws and the rights of deportees. He stressed that while these individuals were considered illegal immigrants in the US, they should have been protected under Indian law upon entering Indian territory.

These remarks follow the deportation of a group of Indian nationals from the US amid strict immigration enforcement. The incident has ignited discussions about the treatment of deportees and the diplomatic protocols between India and the US.

Additionally, Raut announced a press conference scheduled for 12:30 pm today, where he, along with Rahul Gandhi and Supriya Sule, will address the media in Delhi.

Earlier, Raut dismissed the accuracy of exit polls predicting the outcome of the Delhi assembly elections, pointing to past discrepancies between such polls and actual results. “Exit polls come and go. We also saw Maharashtra and Haryana exit polls; it looked like we were going to form the government. Things will be clear at 10 am on February 8,” he remarked.

He expressed confidence that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would emerge victorious, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not succeed. Raut noted, “The final decision will be out on February 8. The Exit Polls indicated that MVA would win in Maharashtra and Congress in Haryana… We are certain that the BJP will not win in Delhi, and the AAP will come to power.”

Most exit polls have suggested that the BJP is likely to form the next government in Delhi, with the AAP trailing behind, and the Congress continuing its poor performance in the assembly elections. Predictions varied regarding the BJP’s margin of victory, with one poll estimating they could win between 51-60 out of 70 assembly seats, while two polls forecasted an AAP win. These exit polls were released after the voting concluded on Wednesday.
