Uttarakhand CM Dhami lauds "historic" Budget of Silver Jubilee Year

Dehradun: In a detailed presentation during the state assembly, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami outlined the government’s policies and achievements while strongly criticizing the opposition for their “corruption” and “failures.” He provided a clear roadmap for the state’s development and future objectives, highlighting the alleged corrupt practices of previous Congress administrations.

CM Dhami announced that the budget for Uttarakhand’s silver jubilee year has exceeded Rs 1 lakh crore, showcasing the state’s growing economic strength and new developmental opportunities. This year’s budget reflects a 13 percent increase from the last, underscoring the government’s dedication to inclusive and sustainable growth in Uttarakhand.

He described the budget’s theme as “Namo” (denoting Innovation, Self-reliance, Great Heritage, and Vigorous Human Resources), and emphasized its foundational principles of “Gyan” (Welfare of the Poor, Youth, Farmers, and Women). This approach aims to foster new pathways for economic and social advancement in the state.

The Chief Minister criticized the Congress party for its history of corruption, alleging that under their rule, corrupt practices thrived, with positions being bid on and the cheating mafia receiving support. He stated that Congress had “played with the future of youth” through these actions. To address such issues, his government enacted a stringent anti-cheating law to restore faith among the youth. CM Dhami also highlighted the significant move towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, which aims to promote equality and justice.

In a forceful denunciation of Congress, he pointed out various scams that surfaced during their governance, including the Kedarnath Valley disaster scam, scholarship scam, and multiple recruitment scams, questioning their transparency and effectiveness. He claimed that corruption peaked during Congress’s tenure, but under the BJP, the focus has shifted towards transparency and good governance.

CM Dhami emphasized the government’s major accomplishments, stating that Uttarakhand is on a path of consistent progress. He labeled the anti-cheating law as a landmark success for securing the youth’s future and took pride in being the first state in India to adopt the Uniform Civil Code post-independence, promoting social harmony.

He also credited Uttarakhand for hosting the 38th National Games, where local athletes excelled by winning 103 medals, and noted that the state topped the SDG Index, reflecting the success of its sustainable development initiatives.

Under the Ease of Doing Business initiative, the state’s Single Window System received accolades as a top achiever, affirming Uttarakhand’s status as a prime destination for investment and industry. The government has also met its promise regarding recruitment, facilitating over 20,000 job placements, demonstrating its commitment to transparency and fulfilling promises.

In conclusion, CM Dhami reaffirmed that the government prioritizes both economic and social growth, stating that the budget reflects principles of ecology, economy, innovation, and inclusive, sustainable development. The focus on technology and accountability aims to make Uttarakhand digitally and economically self-sufficient.
