Uttarakhand: Devotees throng Har Ki Puari in Haridwar on Magh Purnima

Haridwar: On Wednesday, devotees flocked to the Har Ki Pauri ghat for Magh Purnima, eager to take a dip in the Ganga River and offer their prayers. Visuals from the site captured a substantial gathering of worshippers.

Simultaneously, a large number of devotees also gathered in Prayagraj, participating in the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025 celebrations. Aadesh Kumar, a devotee from Delhi, praised the arrangements in the city, stating, “I came here from Delhi with plans to perform ‘snan’ on Magh Purnima today. The arrangements are excellent.”

Another devotee, Diwakar Yadav, shared his experience after taking a holy dip at Triveni Sangam. “I took ‘snan’ at 3 am today. We are heading back now. The crowds today are smaller than they were on Mauni Amavasya, and the arrangements are commendable,” he noted. Earlier, flower petals were showered on the devotees and ascetics at Triveni Sangam.

Official data indicates that over 48.83 million devotees have bathed in the holy waters thus far, with a total of 38.83 million pilgrims visiting the Mela grounds and more than 10 million Kalpwasis residing in the area. As of February 11, 2025, the cumulative number of devotees who have performed snan since the festival began has surpassed 462.5 million, with expectations for further increases as more auspicious bathing dates approach.

Monika, another devotee, commended the arrangements, saying, “We are here for the snan on Magh Purnima. The government has made excellent provisions. We are having a wonderful experience.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath monitored the Magh Purnima snan from his office and extended his wishes to the public on social media platform X. In his post, he expressed, “Hearty congratulations to all the devotees and residents of the state on the holy bathing festival Magh Purnima! Heartfelt greetings to all revered saints, religious leaders, Kalpvasis, and devotees who have come for a holy bath in the sacred Triveni during Maha Kumbh-2025, Prayagraj today! May everyone’s life be filled with happiness, prosperity, and good fortune by the grace of Lord Shri Hari. May Mother Ganga, Mother Yamuna, and Mother Saraswati fulfill everyone’s wishes; this is my wish.”

The Maha Kumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13, 2025), is recognized as the world’s largest spiritual and cultural gathering, drawing devotees from around the globe. The event will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.
