Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand: 150+ roads blocked, Houses damaged in Dehradun and Mussoorie

Dehradun, July 1: The weather department has issued an alert for heavy rain in Uttarakhand today as well. A warning alert has been issued for heavy rain in seven districts of the state. These include Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Pauri, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Nainital and Bageshwar districts.

Apart from this, yellow alert has been issued for lightning and rain in some places in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat Pithoragarh and Almora districts. The weather will remain like this in the state till July 6.

Houses damaged in Dehradun, Mussoorie

On the other hand, people are facing the brunt of the weather. Heavy rains have caused damage in many places in the state. Many houses in Dehradun and Mussoorie have turned into rubble. In Sarai Colony of Mussoorie, a part of the mountain broke and fell on a house, causing heavy damage to the house.

There have been problems due to debris in many other places as well. The embankment was washed away due to rising water level in the Rispana river in Dehradun. The foundation of the house built on the river bank here cracked due to which the house got damaged. Apart from this, the situation is bad in other districts of the state as well.

Over 150 roads blocked by landslides

More than 150 roads are closed due to landslides caused by rain across the state. The work of opening them is being done by the district administration and the PWD department.

Disaster Management in action

The Disaster Management Department has identified the most sensitive areas of the state. JCBs and other equipment have been deployed there so that if there is a road block, they can be opened immediately.

A whole mountain collapsed on the Pauri-Kotdwar national highway at Bairgaon near Gumkhal in Pauri district. Within a few seconds, huge boulders and piles of mud on the road completely blocked traffic.
