Dehradun, May 27: The Uttarakhand government has become alert after the increasing number of COVID-19 cases across the country. Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar has given instructions to test every COVID suspected patient.
However, not a single active patient has been found in Uttarakhand yet. But symptoms of coronavirus were found in three patients who had a travel history of visiting other states.
Three patients had come to Uttarakhand after travelling to other states
These three patients had returned to Uttarakhand after travelling to Gujarat, Karnataka and Mumbai. Symptoms of coronavirus were found in all three patients. After which, all three patients were kept under the supervision of doctors. Since then, the health department has been alert about coronavirus cases. According to the IDSP report, now the coronavirus report of all three patients has come negative. Now there is not a single coronavirus patient in the state.
All patients with COVID-19 symptoms will be tested
After these cases, Health Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar has given instructions to make rapid test and RT-PCR test mandatory for all patients with Covid symptoms. In this regard, the Health Secretary has also instructed all the officers of the department to make all the arrangements in the hospitals. He said that rapid and RTPCR kits should be made available in all the Covid testing centers of the state.
Instructions for complete arrangements in hospitals and medical colleges
All government and private hospitals and medical colleges in the state have been directed to ensure adequate availability of isolation beds, oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrator bipap machines, ventilators, ICU beds, oxygen generation plants and essential medicines for the treatment of Covid patients.
Asked to improve surveillance and investigation system
All districts have been instructed to monitor potential cases of COVID-19. Also, all testing centers have been asked to ensure the availability of rapid test kits and RT-PCR kits. Mandatory reporting of ILI (influenza-like symptoms), SARI (severe acute respiratory infection) and COVID cases will be done and it will be monitored continuously. All government and private hospitals and labs have also been asked to share the report of these cases on the Integrated Health Information Portal (IHIP) daily.

What to do
- Cover nose and mouth with a handkerchief or tissue while sneezing/coughing.
- Avoid crowded places.
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water.
- Drink adequate amount of water and nutritious food.
- If symptoms occur, seek medical advice and take medicine accordingly.
- If you are at risk of getting infected, maintain distance from others.
- Take special care of children, elderly and seriously ill patients.
What not to do,
- Do not reuse used tissues or handkerchiefs.
- Avoid shaking hands.
- Avoid contact with symptomatic people.
- Do not take medicine without doctor’s advice.
- Do not touch your eyes, nose and mouth repeatedly.
- Avoid spitting in public places.
