Uttarakhand to draft new SOP for Helicopter operations after recent crashes

Dehradun, June 20: The government has taken action after the helicopter accidents happened one after another in Uttarakhand. It has been decided to make a standard operating procedure (SOP) for helicopter operations in the state.

For this, a 10-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Home Secretary. This committee will conduct an in-depth study on helicopter accidents. After this, a detailed report will be prepared and submitted to the government by August 15.

Many experts, including government-level officials, have been included in this 10-member committee. It includes Disaster Management, DGCA Director General, Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, Meteorological Department, Executive Director of Airspace Traffic Management.

Heli service operators and pilots nominated by DGCA and UKDA have been nominated as members in this. They will study all the points in detail as experts in their respective fields.

The committee will study several important aspects

This committee will analyze the causes of helicopter accidents. It will also prepare a report to prevent accidents in future. The committee will give suggestions for human resources, equipment and administrative improvement in the Civil Aviation Development Authority.

Apart from this, the committee will also give its opinion on amending the SOP prepared earlier and strengthening the communication system for weather related information.

Along with this, suggestions will also be given on how air traffic management can be improved in the state. After studying all such aspects, this committee will submit its report to the government by August 15.
