Agartala: The union Home Minister on Saturday emphasized the Chief Ministers of eight northeastern to boost their work in curbing drug meance and smuggling in their regions.
Shah while addressing the 72nd sesssion undertaken by the Chief Ministers said the accusitions of northeastern states are known for drug related activities should be removed.
He also said that steps were taken in the past to curb the drug meance but the chief ministers needs to work more to erase this drug meance from their states.
“The center have launched nation wide efforts to achive the Nasha Mukhat Bharat (drug free India) in all statees of India stated tyhe nnorth east must be underetaken by then Chief Ministers and the peoples concerned.”
Shah also urged the Chief Ministerrs to give the priority to the effective implementation of three criminal laws.
The Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). He said in February next year, he would hold a meeting with the Chief Ministers to discuss the progress and implementation of the three new laws.
Amit Shah said that after the Narendra Modi government came to power at the Centre, 20 accords were signed for the peace and harmony of the northeastern states and 10,574 cadres of various militant outfits were surrendered in different states of the region. “A multi-dimensional approach involving the state polices, Army, Assam Rifles and other Central Armed Police Forces has been undertaken to maintain peace and to curb all unlawful activities in the northeastern region,” the Home Minister said.
