Vehicular movement resumes on Yamunotri Highway after 12 Days, 27-meter Bailey Bridge constructed

Uttarkashi, July 11: Movement has resumed in Ojri near Silai Band on the Yamunotri Highway in Uttarkashi. The movement of vehicles in this area was completely closed for almost 12 days. However, pedestrians and local people were being allowed to pass by the district administration.

On Thursday evening, the district administration and NH team constructed a 27 meter span Bailey bridge in 5 days at a cost of about Rs 2 crore. From where the movement of vehicles has now started. This Bailey bridge has been constructed in record time by the team of NH and district administration.

Actually, on 28th June, due to heavy rains, a cloudburst near Silai Band ahead of Pipalgad on Yamunotri Highway caused heavy damage. Many workers went missing after a hotel under construction was washed away. The search for some of them is still on.

Meanwhile, 20 to 25 meters of the Yamunotri highway near Ojri was washed away by the strong flow of water. Since then, the road was continuously eroding due to water in this area. Due to which there were a lot of problems in road construction here.

Due to lack of road construction, it was decided to build a 24-meter-long Bailey bridge here on NH at a cost of about Rs 2 crore, but later its length was increased by 3 meters to 27 meters.

NH started the construction of the bridge on 6 July. Departmental employees were working here continuously for 15 to 26 hours. After which the department completed the bridge in record time.
