Raipur/Narayanpur: In a major success for anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh, Narayanpur Police and the 58th battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered a concealed weapon dump allegedly belonging to Naxals during a joint search operation on Friday.
The operation was carried out in the dense forest area under the Kohkameta police station limits, based on specific intelligence inputs about hidden arms and ammunition.
Security Forces Recover Arms and Ammunition
During an intensive search in the Kachchapal forest region, security personnel discovered a hidden cache containing weapons and ammunition reportedly stored by Naxal operatives for future use.
Officials said the recovered items included one .303 rifle, one .315 rifle and a locally made barrel launcher. The forces also seized 17 live cartridges of .303 bore, 10 live cartridges of 7.62 mm and four 12-bore cartridges.
Other materials recovered from the site included an empty .303 magazine, two cartridge fillers and three .303 tracer rods.
All recovered items have been seized and sent for further examination.
Case Registered, Investigation Underway
Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered at the Kohkameta police station, and further legal action against those involved is underway, officials said.
Security forces said regular search operations are being conducted across vulnerable areas of Narayanpur district to prevent Naxal groups from using forest regions to store weapons and other supplies.
Joint Operations Continue Against Naxal Activities
Officials praised the coordination between Narayanpur Police and BSF personnel, stating that such operations are important to maintain security and prevent the revival of extremist activities in the region.
Authorities said continued efforts will focus on eliminating hidden weapon networks while supporting development initiatives and strengthening trust among local communities.
The latest recovery is expected to further weaken Naxal activities in the area and support ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in Narayanpur district.
