The central and state governments have made committed efforts to combat terrorism. These days, terrorist networks are being controlled from abroad, and the involvement of some local elements increases the challenge of terrorism. A Khalistani module attempted to blow up a railway track in Patiala, Punjab, but major damage was averted.
Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, and its affiliated modules appear to be behind all these incidents. Four people have been arrested in connection with the blast on the railway track in Rajpura, Patiala. Police are making further revelations in this regard.
Explosive material has been recovered from those arrested. This was a terrorist plot to damage the freight corridor. During the blast, the alleged terrorist who planted the explosives was killed, exposing the conspiracy. The arrested individuals were found to have connections with Pakistani handlers and Khalistani groups based in Malaysia. According to the NIA, this is the second bomb blast in the last three months.
