New Delhi: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Saturday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal of fuelling unrest in Delhi amid the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar. He warned that the government would take appropriate action in response to the situation.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the October 10 demonstration, Nabin alleged that attempts were being made to create unrest in the national capital at the behest of foreign powers. He also accused opposition leaders of trying to destabilise the country for political gains.
Nabin Targets Rahul Gandhi, Kejriwal
Nabin claimed that the CJP was backed by the AAP and criticised leaders associated with the INDIA bloc. He alleged that opposition leaders were attempting to create instability after repeatedly failing to defeat the BJP electorally.
Describing the situation as serious, the BJP president said India’s 1.4 billion people were living in peace and contributing to the country’s development. He asserted that attempts to destabilise the nation would not succeed.
Nabin also defended the Modi government’s record over the past 12 years, saying the government would continue working for the country’s development and serving the public.
CJP Protest Amid Heavy Security in Delhi
The remarks came as CJP supporters planned to gather at Jantar Mantar to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Delhi witnessed heightened security arrangements ahead of the demonstration, with a heavy deployment of security personnel across the capital. The protest, described by some as “Jantar Mantar 2.0”, drew attention amid political tensions and concerns over law and order.
Nabin said the BJP and the Centre would continue pursuing their development agenda and asserted that the opposition’s alleged attempts to create instability would be unsuccessful.
