Amritsar: No alert has been issued regarding rain in Punjab till September 10. The weather is going to be normal in the state for the next 3 days. There is a danger of Ludhiana’s Sasrali dam breaking. The dam built in village Sasrali on the Sutlej river here became weak on Friday midnight. After which water reached the fields. To stop the flow of water towards the population, the administration had built a ring dam with the help of the army and NDRF, but on Saturday erosion started on that too, due to which the construction of a third dam has been started.
At the same time, the work of building the dam has been speeded up in Amritsar. There is no rain alert for the next 4 days, due to which the chances of the water level of Ravi rising are very low. The Amritsar administration has also taken the help of the Army in this work.
At the same time, Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel is coming on a tour of Amritsar and Gurdaspur today. Yesterday he was on a tour in Ferozepur, Fazilka and Tarn Taran.
190 villages affected, 5 people died , 134 houses destroyed
Amritsar ADC Rohit Gupta said that according to the reports received so far, 190 villages in the district have been hit by floods. About 1.35 lakh population living in these villages has been affected. During this period, 5 people have died, while 2 people are injured and their treatment is going on. 134 houses have been damaged and 18 animals have died due to the floods.

23 districts are affected by the floods. These include Amritsar, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Malerkotla, Mansa, Moga, Pathankot, Patiala, Rupnagar, Sangrur, SAS Nagar, Sri Muktsar Sahib, SBS Nagar and Tarn Taran.
1996 villages submerged:
1996 villages of the state are in the grip of flood. 195 villages of Amritsar, 329 of Gurdaspur, 121 of Barnala, 21 of Bathinda, 108 of Ferozepur, 173 of Hoshiarpur, 145 of Kapurthala, 88 of Pathankot, 52 of Moga, 93 of Jalandhar, 80 of Fazilka, 15 of Faridkot, 77 of Ludhiana, 23 of Muktsar, 28 of SBS Nagar, 15 of SAS Nagar, 107 of Sangrur and 95 of Mansa are most affected. Apart from this, 12 villages of Malerkotla, 105 in Patiala, 44 in Rupnagar and 70 villages in Tarn Taran are surrounded by water.
More than 3.84 lakh population affected:
A total of more than 3,87,013 people have been affected so far. The most affected areas are Amritsar (1,36,105), Gurdaspur (1,45,000) and Fazilka (24,930). Apart from this, thousands of people are also in trouble in Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Moga, Sangrur and Mohali.
46 people have died so far:
So far 46 people have lost their lives in 12 districts. These include Amritsar (7), Barnala (5), Bathinda (4), Hoshiarpur (7), Ludhiana (4), Mansa (3), Pathankot (6), Gurdaspur (2), SAS Nagar (2), Ferozepur (1), Fazilka (1), Rupnagar (1), Patiala (1) and Sangrur (1). 3 people are missing from Pathankot district. At the same time, the exact figure of livestock loss is not yet known, but a large number of animals have been affected by the floods.
22,854 people evacuated:
A total of 21,854 people have been evacuated to safer places. These include 3888 from Ferozepur, 3260 from Amritsar, 627 from Barnala, 1616 from Hoshiarpur, 1428 from Kapurthala, 511 from Jalandhar, 155 from Moga, 248 from Rupnagar, 1139 from Pathankot and 21 from Tarn Taran.
219 relief camps active:
219 relief camps are active across the state, including Amritsar, Barnala, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Moga, Mohali, Pathankot, Patiala, Rupnagar, Sangrur and SAS Nagar. 7377 people are staying in these camps.
So far 1,74,454 hectares of crops have been affected by floods in Punjab. The maximum damage has been in Gurdaspur (40,169).
