Noida: In a tragic incident, a man burnt his wife alive in front of his son for dowry. The woman was married 9 years ago. The accused was pressuring his wife to bring 35 lakh rupees from her family, but the woman refused. After this, the woman’s husband and her mother-in-law beat her with kicks and punches.
The woman kept pleading to be let go, but they did not listen to her. The husband sprinkled petrol on her and set her on fire. When the woman’s sister tried to save her and make a video, the accused beat her too.
In the video, the woman is seen running down the stairs in a state of panic. Hearing her screams, the neighbours rushed to the spot. They put a blanket over the fire and took her to Fortis Hospital. Seeing the condition of the woman, the doctors referred her to a hospital in Delhi.
The woman died on 22 August. On the complaint of the woman’s sister, the police registered a case and arrested the husband on 23 August. On Sunday, the police was taking the accused husband Vipin to the district hospital for medical examination.
Meanwhile, the accused dodged the police and fled. The police chased and caught the accused after shooting him in the leg near Sirsa crossing. The police have admitted him to the district hospital.
Both the sisters were married in the same house
The incident took place in Sirsa village of Greater Noida on August 21. Its video surfaced on Saturday. Raj Singh, a resident of Roopbas village in Noida, had married his nieces Kanchan and Nikki to Rohit and Vipin, residents of Sirsa village, in December 2016. Raj Singh said that he gave more than his means as dowry, including a Scorpio car.
According to Raj Singh, after this the in-laws started demanding 35 lakh rupees. The in-laws used to beat both the nieces. Panchayat was held several times, but the accused remained adamant on the demand for dowry. Now niece Nikki has been killed.
Elder sister said- I was also beaten when I went to rescue her
Nikki’s elder sister Kanchan said- On Thursday (August 21), Nikki’s husband Vipin beat her. When I went to rescue her, I was also beaten. Vipin punched me three-four times on my neck. After this, when I fainted, petrol was poured on my sister and she was set on fire.
Hearing the sister’s screams, the neighbors arrived. They put out the fire by throwing blankets and took her to Fortis Hospital. After primary treatment there, the doctors referred her to Delhi Hospital. Nikki died during treatment.
Son said- Papa burnt mummy to death
The woman has two sons. Nikki’s younger son said- Papa had sprinkled something on mummy. After that he slapped her. Then he set her on fire with a lighter.
Husband arrested, mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law absconding
On Saturday, the family members reached Kasna police station and created a ruckus demanding action. On the complaint, the police registered a case of murder against husband Vipin, brother-in-law Rohit, mother-in-law Daya and father-in-law Satveer. ADCP Sudhir Kumar said – On the basis of the complaint, a case of murder has been registered and the accused husband Vipin has been arrested. Raids are being conducted to search for others.
People’s protest with Justice for Nikki Bhabhi
People are angry after Nikki was burnt alive. On Saturday, a panchayat was held in Kasna to get justice for Nikki. People also staged a sit-in. They had posters in their hands.
