To manage the increasing rush of passengers during the summer season, Northern Railway has decided to operate several special trains and extend the operational period of one key train. The Railways will run these trains between April and July, providing much-needed relief to passengers.
The Railways has released the schedule and routes for these Summer Special trains. According to the schedule, four special trains will be introduced, while the operational period of one existing train has been extended. Of these, two Summer Special trains will also benefit the people of Punjab.
Residents of Punjab will benefit from the trains operating between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, as well as between Amritsar and Barauni Junction. The operation of these trains is scheduled to commence on or after April 15.
Here are the details regarding the trains operating as Summer Specials:
New Delhi – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Special Express: This train will run three days a week from April 15 to July 15. Originating from New Delhi, the train will travel to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station, making stops at major stations along the route, including Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Pathankot, and Jammu Tawi.
Amritsar – Barauni Junction Weekly Special Express: This train will operate every Sunday from April 19 to July 12. Departing from Amritsar, the train will travel to Barauni Junction. Within Punjab, it will make stops at Amritsar, Beas, Jalandhar, Phagwara, Ludhiana (Dhandari), Sirhind, and Rajpura. Additionally, it will halt at Ambala, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Chhapra, Sonepur, and other stations.
Yognagari Rishikesh – Muzaffarpur Junction Special Express: This train will operate two days a week (Thursdays and Sundays) from April 16 to July 12. Originating from Yognagari Rishikesh, the train will travel to Muzaffarpur, making stops at stations such as Haridwar, Moradabad, Bareilly, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Chhapra, and Hajipur.
Yog Nagari Rishikesh – Gorakhpur Weekly Special Express: A decision has been taken to introduce this train as well. Operating every Tuesday between April 21 and July 14, this train will run from Yog Nagari Rishikesh to Gorakhpur.
In view of passenger demand, the operational period of the Varanasi–Lucknow Junction Unreserved Special Train has been extended. This rail service will now continue to run between Varanasi and Lucknow until July 15, undertaking a total of 45 additional trips.
