The recent Monsoon Session of Parliament was marred by disruptions and theatrics within the parliamentary complex; the opposition’s use of social media further ensured that the entire session was lost to uproar. Amidst this, the rising influence of Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha in the country also became evident. In light of these developments, the BJP has made necessary changes to its team. The BJP’s team of convenors has now been given a more aggressive stance. The media coordination team has been expanded from two to four members. In the team of 16 secretaries, everyone is new except for Anil Antony. The average age of office-bearers has been lowered to infuse the team with youthful energy. To adopt a more aggressive approach, Deepak Mhaske has replaced Amit Malviya, who had managed media operations for 12 years. Anurag Thakur and Smriti Irani have returned to the operational team. Trust has been reaffirmed in Vasundhara Raje as a Vice President. Sandeep Pathak, who moved from the Aam Aadmi Party to the BJP in Punjab, has been assigned the role of a national strategist. Senior leader Saudan Singh, associated with Punjab, has been appointed as the National Joint General Secretary. This team has been shaped with an eye on the elections of 2029, not just 2027. Twelve women have been included in the team, comprising six Vice Presidents, one General Secretary, three Secretaries, one Morcha President, and one Social Media Co-convenor. Most members hail from Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Among the veterans, trust has been placed in Ram Madhav once again; he has been reinstated as a BJP Vice President after six years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the team, describing it as an energetic one. Amit Malviya’s removal as the in-charge of social media is being viewed as a setback resulting from the failure in publicity efforts during the Jantar Mantar protests. Responsibilities assigned to individuals from Uttar Pradesh have been allocated with the upcoming state assembly elections in mind. The appointment of Manpreet Badal—associated with Punjab—as a National Vice President reflects a strategic focus on securing votes in the Malwa belt. The BJP is considered highly adept at election management. Consequently, the early reshuffle of the party’s steering team for the upcoming elections conveys several significant messages.
