Panipat police have arrested the second accused in the firing and extortion case linked to a shooting outside an office near DRM School in Desraj Colony. The accused, identified as Sunil alias Daliya, was brought on a production warrant from Nohar Jail in Hanumangarh and later sent to judicial custody after police remand.
The incident took place on December 31, 2025, when two unidentified youths allegedly opened fire outside the office of Indrajit alias Sohna in Vadhavaram Colony before fleeing the scene. The attackers reportedly left behind a note demanding ₹10 lakh in the name of the Neeraj Bawana Gang.
Canada-Based Mastermind Allegedly Planned Attack
According to CIA-3 in-charge Inspector Vijay, the alleged mastermind behind the conspiracy is Deepak, a resident of Desraj Colony who is currently living in Canada. Police said Deepak had an ongoing land dispute with Indrajit and allegedly planned the attack to establish dominance in the area.
Investigators claimed Deepak contacted shooters through Instagram and allegedly paid ₹60,000 to Sohan alias Sonu from Rohtak and Sunil alias Daliya from Rajasthan to carry out the firing.
Illegal Weapons Supplied Through UP Link
Police also alleged that the illegal weapons used in the attack were arranged through Sahil alias Neta, a resident of Amroha. Sahil has already been arrested and sent to jail in connection with supplying firearms for the crime.
Earlier, police had arrested Sohan alias Sonu and recovered two country-made pistols along with two live cartridges allegedly used during the firing.
Multiple Cases Registered Against Accused
During interrogation, Sunil alias Daliya allegedly admitted his involvement in the shooting along with Sonu. Police said the accused has multiple criminal cases registered against him in Haryana and Rajasthan related to robbery, assault and Arms Act violations.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are continuing efforts to trace the Canada-based accused and uncover the wider network linked to the extortion and firing conspiracy.
