New Delhi: Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Sunday regretted “slapping” an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker who allegedly provoked him by abusing his family. The Minister also alleged that the person was involved in obstructing government officials and a contractor and damaging a road being constructed in the Vikaspuri area.

Clearing the air over the incident, a clip of which was circulated on social media, Parvesh Sahib Singh posted a message and a video on X to present what he described as the “complete picture” behind the incident.
“Listen to the full truth behind today’s incident… but what happened should not have happened,” the Minister said in his post.
In the video, Parvesh Sahib Singh alleged that Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh was demanding a bribe from the contractor constructing a stretch of the Outer Ring Road in the Vikaspuri area.
“The contractor has filed a police complaint over the issue,” he said.
The Minister further alleged that Jarnail Singh had been running a social media campaign to tarnish the image of the Delhi government and the contractor by damaging the freshly laid tar road and describing it as the result of “poor quality”.
Minister Alleges Obstruction Of Government Work
“I want to tell the AAP, that no amount of provocation or malicious campaigns will be allowed to obstruct government work, damage public property or demand commissions from contractors or officers,” Parvesh Sahib Singh said.
He alleged that the incident was linked to AAP leaders’ opposition to the BJP-led Delhi government’s completion of projects left unfinished by the previous government.
The Minister said he had visited the site of the alleged “poor quality” road construction to verify the facts and had also called the AAP MLA to the site for a reality check.
“However, the MLA came to the site with a group of supporters and tried to use the opportunity to score political points by inciting and abusing others,” Parvesh Sahib Singh alleged.
PWD To Conduct Quality Audit
The Minister said the PWD would order a quality audit and conduct checks to address concerns over the road construction.
He added that attempts to spread false information and corruption would not be tolerated and vowed to take action against corruption and those who obstruct government work.
AAP MLA Jarnail Singh had posted a video clip of Saturday’s incident on his X account, along with an earlier video in which he had questioned the quality of the road.
The Delhi Minister’s post expressing regret over the incident came within hours of the AAP MLA’s video beginning to circulate on social media.
