3 Passengers and 2 crew members died, Check list
As per reports, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and six others have died after a charter plane from Mumbai crash-landed in Baramati at around 8:45 am. The death of all aboard, including Maharashtra Deputy CM, has been confirmed by DGCA. He was reportedly traveling to address public meetings ahead of the upcoming Zilla Parishad polls.
Family members left for Baramati
Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar, and all other members of the Pawar family, including MP Supriya Sule, have left for Baramati. Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule are in Delhi and have also departed for Baramati with the rest of the family.
About Ajit Pawar
Ajit Pawar a prominent Indian politician from Maharashtra, was a key figure in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and served multiple terms as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra over the years.
Born on July 22, 1959, He was known as “Dada” among supporters. He had a long political career focused on rural development, cooperatives (like sugar factories and milk unions), water resources, and agriculture.
He represented Baramati in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and was the nephew of veteran politician Sharad Pawar.
In a major political development in 2023, he led a faction of the NCP to ally with the BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena group, becoming Deputy Chief Minister again.
The Election Commission later awarded the NCP name and symbol to his faction in 2024. He continued in the role of Deputy CM (alongside Eknath Shinde) under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the Mahayuti government formed after the 2024 elections.
