New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan,’ saying that a healthy, confident and drug-free youth is essential for achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat. The nationwide campaign aims to inspire young people to stay away from substance abuse and become ambassadors of positive social change.
Launching the campaign via video conferencing, the Prime Minister said the movement is not only for individuals but also for families, society and the nation.
“As the nation sets its sights on becoming a Viksit Bharat, it is essential that our youth be healthy in body and mind, brimming with self-confidence, and forever free from the deadly habit of drugs,” PM Modi said.
100-Week Nationwide Campaign Against Drug Abuse
The launch marks the beginning of a 100-week Jan Bhagidari campaign against substance abuse. Weekly activities will be organised every Sunday across the country to spread awareness and encourage public participation in building a drug-free society.
The campaign will include sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programs, awareness drives, street plays, discussions, art competitions and community engagement initiatives.
More than one crore youth from nearly 10,000 locations across the country are expected to participate in the campaign, with the support of MY Bharat volunteers, NSS volunteers, schools, colleges, universities, NGOs, youth clubs, industry associations and over 125 spiritual organisations.
PM Calls for Collective Fight Against Drugs
Highlighting the importance of public participation, Prime Minister Modi said collective efforts make difficult tasks easier and inspire people to work towards a common goal.
He also recalled that the campaign was first introduced as a pilot project in Kashi last year and expressed confidence that it would now grow into a nationwide movement against drug abuse.
The Prime Minister urged citizens to ensure that young people understand the dangers of substance abuse, remain vigilant and actively contribute to building a healthier and stronger India.
